What is a senior show?
Senior shows are 50 minute long productions that are written, staged, and directed by the senior who’s starring in it! Typically they have three sections: character, composer and cabaret. Our content pertains to these characters and composers, and then the cabaret is our chance to add in whatever other songs we really wanted to perform! The show is our capstone project where we show off all the skills we’ve gained over the past four years.
What’s your show about?
Great question! I’d like to call mine kids variety show inspired. Think Sesame Street, Mister Rogers Neighborhood, maybe even Blues Clues. If you’ve ever seen John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch then the tone is a lot like that (but apparently no one watches that except me). My character study is Eurydice from Hadestown, and my composer study is Lin-Manuel Miranda (which means yes, there will be Hamilton).
Who’s in your senior show?
While they may be centered around the senior who wrote them, these shows would be nothing without our incredible casts! Mine has been graced with the talents of Carson Been, Richard Harrison Sierra Fermin, and Miranda McCauley! Not to mention the musical talents of Nathan Girard and Weston Wittek!
Who can come see it?
ANYONE & EVERYONE!!! It’s open to the public and I would LOVE to have you there! This is the last opportunity to see me sing on a stage at Belmont, so if you’ve been waiting now is the time!
Will it be live-streamed?
Another good question. Last year all of our recitals were live-streamed due to audiences not being allowed, so because audiences are allowed again the school no longer live-streams for us. There is the chance I will set up a live-stream via my phone on Facebook, but if I do then quite frankly the video quality will likely be very bad since smart-phones weren’t made to capture the stage of a 1000 seat auditorium. So if you can, you should come in person ;)
What does it cost?
Your love & support (a.k.a. it’s free!)
Will I be able to talk to you?
Yeah! Maybe not as much while I’m on stage (although audience engagement is actually encouraged!), but there’s a small reception on location after each show and before the next for all the hugs and conversations! Or if you’d rather come and leave under a cloak of invisibility then that’s cool, too.
Are there any more of these I can watch?
Yes - 13 to be exact! I’m sandwiched in between two shows my night, and then you can click here for the full schedule of all my classmates’ shows!
